WHY VOLUNTEER FOR THE LAUREL STREET FAIR?

Volunteering is one of the best ways to support and contribute to the fair. Our volunteers share a passion for Oakland and local artist which inspires the growth and engagement of a thriving volunteer community. Come out and make new friends, help put on a world class fair, and enjoy the music!

WHAT WILL I DO?

Over 100 volunteers carry out a wide variety of tasks using a wide spectrum of physical, technical and interpersonal skills. Here are a few tasks:  Set up, vendor support, kids zone, gate monitors, photography, media and performer hospitality, bike valet, tear down). Volunteers are placed on a first-come first-served basis considering preferences as well as specific skills or qualifications. The more choices you offer the better but please be flexible and do not be discouraged.  We make every effort to find the best fit for each volunteer and we strive to make each volunteer experience enjoyable!

Who volunteers?

Both individuals and groups volunteer to help with set-up or during the event. All individual volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Those younger than 18 years of age may volunteer if accompanied by an adult or as part of a group which has an adequate number of adults.

Volunteer perks!

As a sign of our gratitude, each volunteer will receive a cool Laurel Street Fair t-shirt to wear during your shift and keep.  Volunteers are also treated to a special volunteer meal, appropriate to his / her shift time.

EXPECTATIONS

Respect and Kindness:

Our volunteers are our ambassadors – They introduce performers, patrons and others to the Laurel Street Fair, and make up the majority of their experience. We want to create the best experience possible for everyone involved, which means treating fellow volunteers, performers, patrons and others with respect and kindness.

Time Commitment:

All first-time contribute 3-4 hours. We need most people to work primarily pre and post festival. These volunteers are invaluable to the fair as we need help constructing the tents as well as tearing down the tents and stage after the event is over.

We also offer community service hours for youth and service groups. We can also offer a limited number of complimentary non-profits booths if you have a large team that can volunteer.
